Privacy Policy
The Antiochian House of Studies (“AHOS,” “we,” “us”) provides a mobile application for members of its Residency Program. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used. It applies to the AHOS mobile app only.
1. Accounts
Accounts are created and provisioned by AHOS staff; there is no public self-registration. You sign in using the email address AHOS assigned to you. The app is intended for enrolled residents, faculty, and staff — all of whom are adults.
2. Information we handle
- Profile provided by AHOS: your name, email, program, year, week, Populi ID, and profile photo.
- Content you submit: a profile photo you upload, and any feedback or testimonials you choose to send.
- Notifications: a device notification token, so we can deliver the reminders you have enabled.
- Presence: a transient online/offline indicator while the app is open, shown to staff. This status is real-time and is not stored as a permanent history.
- On-device only: the app shows your device model and a locally generated install identifier to help with support. These stay on your device and are not collected by us unless you choose to share them with us.
3. How we use your information
To operate the Residency Program experience — showing your agenda and daily services, sending the notifications you have enabled, listing attendees, and indicating who is online. We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising.
4. How your information is shared
Within the app, your profile is visible to signed-in AHOS members and staff. Testimonials are shared beyond that only when you explicitly allow it. We share information with the service providers below strictly to run the app.
5. Service providers
- Supabase — secure cloud database, authentication, and file storage, with access restricted by security rules.
- Expo & Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivery of push notifications to your device.
- Amazon SES — sending account and sign-in emails.
These providers process data only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy commitments. Public news and publications shown in the app are read from ahos.edu; no personal data is sent when loading them.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your AHOS membership is active. When your membership ends, or upon your request, your personal data can be removed.
7. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
8. Your rights and choices
- Update your profile photo and password in the app.
- Turn notifications on or off from your device settings.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us.
9. Children’s privacy
The app is intended for adult members of a graduate theological program and is not directed to children.
10. Data location
AHOS is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored on U.S.-based infrastructure operated by our service providers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, a notice in the app.
12. Contact
For any privacy question or request, email dev@ahos.edu or visit www.ahos.edu.
