An applicant who has graduated from or attended another accredited postsecondary institution and attempted one or more courses is considered a transfer student. AHOS accepts a maximum of two-thirds of the total credits required for its degree programs as transfer credits.
Transfer applicants must have earned a minimum grade of “C” or better in all courses considered for transfer. Some concentrations or departments may set additional requirements that exceed AHOS’ minimum standards.
Admission may involve a holistic review of the applicant, taking into account recent coursework, overall academic performance, evidence of persistence, and commitment to educational success. The Admissions Team may consider all attempted college or post-college level work when determining eligibility for a particular AHOS program.
Transfer credits will only be approved if the courses demonstrate alignment with Orthodox Patristic theological principles, the saving doctrines of the Church (as expressed by the Seven Ecumenical Councils and certain other councils of ecumenical authority), and the ascetic, pastoral, and liturgical ethos of the Saints. These criteria ensure that AHOS maintains the distinctively Orthodox character of its academic formation. The Admissions Team, in consultation with the Office of the Dean, is responsible for approving and reviewing transfer credit policies.
Applicants wishing to transfer credits must:
-
Review the Transfer Credit Policy on the AHOS website.
-
Contact the Admissions Team at admissions@ahos.edu.
-
Submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions, regardless of whether credit was earned or intended for transfer. Transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution. Failure to report all attempted courses may prevent the transfer of credits.
Current AHOS students seeking to transfer credits from another institution must submit a formal request to the Office of the Dean. The Office will review the request according to the above policy. The Dean’s Office can be contacted at info@ahos.edu.
