The Orthodox Academic Society Journal – Volume 1 Now Published

The Antiochian House of Studies (AHOS) is honored to announce the publication of the first volume of the Orthodox Academic Society Journal (OASJ).

The OASJ is an academic journal produced by graduate students of AHOS under the guidance of the President and the Academic Dean. The journal gathers select papers presented at the Orthodox Academic Society (OAS) Symposia, offering a scholarly platform where theology, history, and pastoral thought are explored through the lens of the Orthodox Christian Tradition.

This inaugural issue opens with a pastoral message from His Eminence Metropolitan SABA, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of All North America, reflecting on the vital role of theological scholarship in the life and mission of the Church. The volume also features messages from Fr. Michel Najim, President of AHOS, and Fr. Fadi Rabbat, Editor-in-Chief, both affirming the vision of Orthodox academic engagement rooted in faith and tradition.

The editorial board for this volume includes:

  • Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Fadi Rabbat, Editor-in-Chief
  • Fr. Jeffrey (Fmr. Dn. Simeon) Spencer, PhD student
  • Fr. Cosmin Sicoe, PhD student

The research papers in this volume reflect the intellectual and spiritual depth of AHOS scholarship, addressing theological, historical, and contemporary issues within the Orthodox tradition:

  • Deified by Providence: Divine Providence According to the Antiochian Fathers — Dalia Tinawi
  • Saint Cyril’s Christology and the Chalcedonian Christological Controversy — Darren Faber
  • Synod of Florence: The Rivalry of Pope Eugenius IV and the Council of Basel to Achieve Union with the Eastern Church — John Leland
  • Gender Dysphoria and Transgenderism from a Scientific Perspective — Ahdy Rofaeil
  • Cremation: An Orthodox Christian Theological and Pastoral Perspective — Fr. Cosmin Sicoe

Through this publication, the Orthodox Academic Society continues its mission to foster vibrant academic and theological interaction among AHOS students, alumni, faculty, and scholars worldwide.
