Dr. Maggie Ann Hock

Christ is Risen!
With the radiant hope of the Resurrection, the Barad of Trustees, the President, the Dean, the Faculty, Staff, and Students of the Antiochian House of Studies (AHOS) solemnly announce the falling asleep in the Lord of Khourieh Dr. Maggie Ann Hock, Senior Professor and beloved pillar of our graduate school, who reposed in Christ Friday 6/20/2025.
With her repose into the Father’s House, the entire pleroma of the Antiochian House of Studies lifts its voice in prayer, entreating the Lord to grant her rest in the bosom of Abraham, where the just repose and the righteous shine like the stars of heaven.
Dr. Maggie, a woman of profound intellect and spiritual grace, earned high credentials that she never treated as mere accolades, but as tools for service. Through decades of teaching and tireless work, she taught, counseled, consoled, and uplifted countless students, offering wisdom, comfort, and strength.

With unwavering diligence, vigilance, and discernment, she labored to preserve the integrity and depth of the Pastoral Care and Counseling program at AHOS. Her vision ensured that this academic path remained a formation in truth, in love, and in communion-where students are transformed not only in mind but in heart. For Dr. Maggie, AHOS was not just an academic institution; it was a luminous place of spiritual and intellectual edification, a school that shines forth in its true splendor. When AHOS laid the theological foundation of the Orthodox Family Center, she, in collaboration with the professors of AHOS, assumed a leading role in formulating both the theological and pastoral framework for premarital formation and postmarital support. Motivated by her faith in the mission of the school, she enrolled as a Ph.D. student at AHOS. Although she was unable to complete her studies, AHOS is honoring her commitment by awarding her the Certificate of the Cross.
Her academic excellence and psychological insight never ends in themselves but means consecrated wholly to the service of the school. What can be said of Dr. Maggie that is not already inscribed in the grateful hearts of those who knew her? To those who worked alongside her, she was a radiant light. To those who benefited from her gentle and wise counsel, she was a healing presence. To those who heard her speak or read her many insightful presentations, she was a voice of consolation and joy.
Dr. Maggie was, and remains in our hearts, an icon of the good counselor compassionate, wise, patient, and ever attentive to the human soul.
On behalf of the entire AHOS family, we extend our deepest condolences to her beloved husband, the Very Reverend Don Hock and her family members. We pray that the Lord, who is the Resurrection and the Life, will grant her eternal repose, and that He will console all who grieve her blessed departure.

May her memory be eternal!
