New Release from the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture

Volume 12 – Revelation

Translated into Arabic by Fr. Michel Najm

President of the Antiochian House of Studies, USA

Saint John of Damascus institute of theology-Balamand university is pleased to announce the Arabic release of Volume 12 – Revelation from the renowned Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture (ACCS) series. This volume was translated from the original languages into Arabic by Fr. Michel Najim, President of the Antiochian House of Studies in the United States, in collaboration with a team of translators and editors.

This distinguished series offers modern readers a unique opportunity to access the earliest commentaries of the Church Fathers, following the canonical order of the Bible. The series allows the vibrant theological voices of the early Church to speak once again within the context of Holy Scripture.

Volume 12 focuses on the Book of Revelation—known in Arabic as Jilyan. Although Revelation gained wider reception in the West, the earliest surviving commentaries on it were written in the East in Greek, notably by Oecumenius and Andrew of Caesarea to represent the Eastern exegetical tradition, while integrating six major Latin interpretations to reflect the Western patristic heritage. The Arabic edition presents many texts that are translated into Arabic for the first time, offering readers a fresh opportunity to engage with the rich theological and pastoral insights of Revelation within its authentic historical and exegetical context.

Thanks to the scholarly and pastoral dedication of Fr. Michel Najim, this release bridges a significant gap in Arabic theological literature, allowing Arab-speaking readers, students, and clergy to rediscover the deep spiritual and historical roots of Christian biblical interpretation.
